Laboratory of Internal Combustion Engines

The academic target of the laboratory is to educate mechanical engineers in the area of Internal Combustion Engines, and in particular their:

  • operation principles
  • characteristics
  • efficiency
  • failure
  • maintenance

The laboratory is equiped with engines of different types, which are disassempled and assempled by students. Several measurement instruments are used to determine desing and operational characteristics of the engine:

  • volume
  • compression
  • wear
  • emissions

 Notably the equipment includes:

  • a small engine bench dynamometer
  • a pump test bench
  • a wheel balancing and alignment unit

and special devices for checking and demonstrating the operation of injection and spark ignition systems.

Additionally demonstration engine parts, educational software and other digital material are used in the courses.
