LABORATORY OF RENEWABLE ENERGY SOURCES

LABORATORY OR RENEWABLE ENERGY SOURCES

The laboratory of renewable energy sources is equipped with several educational devices covering solar, wind and biomass energy.

Regarding solar energy, the equipment includes instruments for measuring flat solar panel's efficiency in adsorbing solar radiation for water heating. A device simulating solar radiation is also available for the same purpose. The students are trained in the design of solar panels and measurement of the parameters that affect their efficiency. Additionally, parabolic solar panels are available for heating of water at moderate temperatures. For the study of direct conversion of solar radiation to electricity, photovoltaic panels are used in combination with 2 computers and measurement instruments such as pyranometers and thermometers.

The lab's wind turbine is accompanied with a anemometer connected to a computer for real-time measurement of the wind field. The complete installation is used for educational purposes related to wind exploitation for electricity production. Further, the educational activities are complemented with digital material such as, CDs, videotapes and presentations.
